The Mexican Caribbean is shining on the world stage once again. At the 2026 World Travel Awards for the Caribbean and the Americas, known as the "Oscars of tourism" and presented in early October in Jamaica, Cancún took home three of the most important awards for Mexico and Central America.
Cancún, a Triple Winner
Leading beach destination: its turquoise waters and white sand keep winning over travelers from all over the world.
Leading city destination: a city that blends beaches, food, nightlife and a wide range of hotels.
Leading meetings and conference destination: a recognition of its ability to host major events and business travel.
Playa del Carmen takes the spotlight
Just minutes from Cancún, Playa del Carmen was named Mexico and Central America's leading city break destination. With its Fifth Avenue, its beaches and its multicultural vibe, it proves the Mexican Caribbean has a destination for every kind of traveler: from those looking for the energy of a big beach city to those who prefer a more relaxed getaway.
Travel Notes
Coming soon: Park Hyatt Riviera Maya, between Cancún and Puerto Morelos, will be the Park Hyatt brand's first all-inclusive resort, welcoming its first guests in February 2027.
