How to make green juice at home and keep it ready for two weeks

Some habits arrive quietly and end up changing our day. Green juice has become an important ally in my nutrition, and although I don’t always have time to make it, there’s a secret that keeps bringing me back to it.

What it’s good for
For me, its greatest virtue is that it prepares the stomach to receive food. On those mornings when we don’t feel much like having breakfast, a glass of green juice is the best way to start. It’s also perfect for refreshing ourselves in the afternoon, or for that moment when we come home and the body asks for something light and natural. Cucumber and celery add hydration, and lemon brings freshness and vitamin C.

The base recipe and its variations
There are many versions of this juice: some people make it with three ingredients, others with five and others with as many as seven. My favorite has a simple base of cucumber, lemon, celery and spinach, and that’s all I need. If I want a sweeter touch, pineapple is delicious, and a little parsley or a hint of orange also works beautifully.

The secret: make it once and enjoy it for weeks
Make a big blender batch, strain the juice and store it in small glass jars in the freezer, where it keeps for a long time. I make enough juice for two weeks at once. The night before, move a jar to the fridge, and by morning it will be ready, fresh and full of flavor.

This is just the first chapter of our green ritual. In an upcoming edition, we’ll share our favorite combinations for every moment of the day, and the one that became the house favorite.

Wellbeing notes

  • Base: cucumber, lemon, celery and spinach.

  • To switch it up: pineapple, parsley or a hint of orange.

  • Tip: leave some space at the top of the jar, because the juice expands as it freezes.
