Columbia Restaurant: A Spanish Escape in the Heart of St. Augustine

We went to St. Augustine to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, walking through the charming streets of the city. That’s when we found Columbia Restaurant, and it instantly felt like the perfect spot to settle in.

Service and Atmosphere: Everything Comes Together

For over 40 years, this location has been a proud family-owned and operated gem, carrying on a tradition that dates back to 1983. But the story goes even further—this beloved chain has been delighting customers in Florida since 1905.

From the moment we stepped in, the service was warm and inviting. The decor, with its hand-painted tiles and brick arches, made us feel like we’d been transported straight to Spain. The paella was delicious and reasonably priced, and the table-side sangria added that extra touch to make it all feel special.

The Music: A Rhythm That Connects

The music played its part too. One moment, we were immersed in flamenco, and the next, a Cuban son filled the air. It gave the place an effortless, vibrant energy.

This isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a place that welcomes you to pause, savor, and enjoy the moment. If you're ever in St. Augustine, make sure to drop by and see for yourself.

Key Information

  • Hours: Daily, 11:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.

  • Average Price: $12 - $48 per person.

  • Free Parking on Spanish Street.

  • Location: 98 St. George St., St. Augustine, FL.

  • Unique atmosphere reflecting Spanish and Cuban heritage.

Motorcycle Experience in Daytona

Hearing about the famous biker events in the U.S. is one thing, but being there, living it among them, is something else entirely. Daytona Beach welcomed us for Bike Week 2025, an event that draws riders from legendary motorcycle cities like Milwaukee (Wisconsin), Sturgis (South Dakota), Los Angeles (California), and Chicago (Illinois)—a true reflection of its national and international popularity.

The Heart of Bike Week

The official Bike Week unfolds along Florida’s Atlantic Coast, right in Daytona Beach, a city best known for Daytona International Speedway—home of NASCAR’s Daytona 500—and for being a legendary spring break destination.

Arriving in Daytona Beach, you look for a place to park near Main Street Pier, close to the heart of the action in Daytona Beach’s legendary Main Street entertainment district. And from there, the experience begins—the roaring engines, the energy in the air—it’s thrilling, almost hypnotic.

The Vibe: A Wild Rush of Adrenaline

The atmosphere is electric, a pure adrenaline rush. The crowd is diverse:

  • Some quietly showcase their bikes, effortlessly cool, no need to show off.

  • Others admire the stunning Harley-Davidsons rolling by.

  • Some grab a bite, enjoy a drink at the bars, or get lost in the sound of a live rock & roll band.

It’s impossible not to be fascinated. I tried to play it cool, but let’s be real—it showed! This is another world, and it has its own magic.

The True Biker Culture

Hollywood can’t even come close to capturing what biker culture really is. It’s a way of life. The men—most of them tall, rugged, dressed in leather vests covered in patches from the places they’ve traveled—instinctively recognize each other. Even at 70 or 80 years old, they walk through the crowd holding hands with their wives, calling out with their deep voices, “Come on, babe.” Their tough looks contrast with the warmth in how they treat their partners, paying the restaurant bill before heading back out to enjoy the festival. And the women? They look absolutely stunning in their outfits.

Bike Week: A True Spectacle

Most of the action takes place beachside on Main Street, where you’ll find:

  • Bike shows

  • Live music

  • Vendors

  • Thousands of riders and fans

And now? I can officially say I’m a fan of these motorcycle festivals too!

Tips for First-Time Visitors

  • Parking: Costs $20 per day, cash only—don’t forget!

  • Drinks: Also cash only, babe—forget about Apple Pay or Apple Watch here. Feels like the ‘80s, and I love it!

  • Restrooms: Grab a drink or food at a restaurant to use their facilities.

  • Quiet dining option: If you need a break from the crowd, IHOP is within walking distance, and they treat you well. It’s not just pancakes anymore—they’ve expanded their menu!

  • Convenience stores: 7-Eleven is your best friend for quick stops.

  • Festival souvenirs: In the final days, some shops lower prices on t-shirts and memorabilia.

  • Best time to arrive: Late afternoon—catch some daylight, feel the Florida heat, and stay for the magic of the night.

Daytona’s Bike Week is more than an event—it’s a lifestyle, a feeling, an experience you have to live to understand.

Jacksonville Shopping Malls: A Local’s Guide

These two malls in Jacksonville are perfect for any shopping mood. Whether you want a luxury experience or a more casual outing, St. Johns Town Center and The Avenues Mall have it all. Both are located in the Southside of Jacksonville.

St. Johns Town Center

St. Johns Town Center is a large, open-air mall with a wide variety of stores. You can find everything from clothing, shoes, and home goods to bookstores, restaurants, and pet stores.

What I love:

  • Enjoy a good book at Barnes & Noble.

  • Grab a coffee and stroll around.

  • Stop at Kilwins for seasonal chocolates.

  • Have lunch at one of many restaurants, including Mexican, Japanese, Brazilian, and American.

  • Try Noodles & Company for a delicious zucchini noodle dish with chicken and pesto sauce.

The Avenues Mall
The Avenues Mall is a smaller, indoor shopping center with two levels. It’s a more relaxed and affordable place compared to St. Johns Town Center.

What I love:

  • Shop at stores like H&M, MAC, Bath & Body Works, and JCPenney.

  • Grab a smoothie or coffee from one of the kiosks while you shop.

  • The mall also has small parks for kids to enjoy.

  • For the best coffee, try Le Crepes, an Italian family-run spot that serves a delicious cappuccino with a Nutella and strawberry crepe. It’s a cozy place to take a break and relax.

Pro Tips:

  • St. Johns Town Center is perfect for a day of shopping and dining, while The Avenues Mall is ideal for a quick trip.

  • Le Crepes at The Avenues Mall is a must-try for amazing coffee and crepes!

Discover a Delicious French Café in Playa del Carmen, MX

Today, I want to share a charming spot in a place that I always carry in my heart—Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya, Mexico, where I lived for seven amazing years. It’s a Parisian-style café located on the street leading to the ferry dock for Cozumel. The café’s central location makes it the perfect place to unwind before or after your adventures in Playa.

Why I Love Café Antoinette

  • Authentic French Experience: From the moment we stepped in, my family and I fell in love with this place. You can enjoy coffee and pastries crafted with the expertise of a true French bakery. At Café Antoinette, the products, the recipes, the décor—everything—says Bienvenue à Paris ("Welcome to Paris").

  • A Haven for Coffee Lovers: Finding great coffee while traveling can be a challenge, but this spot is a local favorite. Whether you're craving hot drinks, iced beverages, French bread, crepes, or pastries like éclairs and chocolate croissants, Café Antoinette has it all.

Personally, I love a cappuccino with a Swiss Chocolate Bread: Basically it's brioche dough filled with pastry cream and a scattering of chocolate chips and baked to golden perfection.

  • Early Morning Delight: They open at 7 AM, which is perfect if you want to start your day early and enjoy a European-style breakfast.

Pro Tips:

  • Since this location is small, I recommend visiting with just a few people (up to 4 is ideal) or grabbing something to go and enjoying it while exploring the nearby tourist spots. There are also a few outdoor tables if you’d like to sit and take in the surroundings.

  • Because it’s in a busy area, there’s no parking right in front, but you can find parking just five minutes away at the beautiful Paseo del Carmen Shopping Mall, which has plenty of surrounding parking. Park there, take a short walk, and get ready to experience a little slice of Paris in the heart of Playa del Carmen!

Final Thought:

Now, I have just one question for you: Are you ready to see photos of these delicious treats? Think it through! Take a deep breath… here you go: Café Antoinette Photos

Until next time! Or should I say… À bientôt!

What makes Fogo de Chão Jax different as a Brazilian steakhouse?

If you see dining as more than just a meal—where service, ambiance, and the little details matter as much as the food—this review is for you.

Fogo is different from other steakhouses. It’s a world of its own, where every element feels intentional. Its unique concept isn’t just part of the experience—it defines it.

What I Love Most About Fogo de Chão in Jacksonville, Fl.

  • A Warm & Welcoming Atmosphere – Even with the energy of a busy restaurant, you never feel rushed. The service is attentive, yet relaxed, making you feel truly at home.

  • A Stunning Ambiance – There’s an exclusive area with a breathtaking wine wall, another where you can watch chefs in action at the open-fire grills, and a stylish, modern bar—perfect for pre-dinner drinks.

  • The Famous Market Table – More than just a salad bar, this spread features fresh, gluten-free ingredients, including specialty salads, seasonal sides, cured meats, soups, aged cheeses, and more.

  • Exclusive Bar-Only Dishes – If you sit at the bar, you can try hidden gems that aren’t on the main menu, like the filet mignon board with chimichurri or the picanha burger with smoked provolone—both must-tries!

Pro Tips:

Weekend Special Menu (11 AM - 2 PM) – Featuring Belgian waffles and omelets that kids (and adults!) absolutely love.

Following 5 PM, weekends tend to be busy. I suggest making a reservation in advance—it’s super easy via phone or the OpenTable app.

Options for Every Diet – Whether you're vegan, vegetarian, keto, or paleo, you’ll find plenty of delicious choices. My top pick? The cauliflower steak with a parmesan crust and basil sauce.

Complimentary Parking – Free valet and self-parking. Naturally, you can always leave a tip for the valet.

Final Thoughts

Fogo is known for its quality and excellence, but for me, Fogo de Chão Jacksonville it’s more than that—it feels like home. I’ve seen firsthand the dedication of their team to creating a unique and welcoming atmosphere, ensuring that every meal is exceptional.

Jacksonville: A city where discovery never ends

Jacksonville, Florida, is a vast city with countless unique areas to explore.

From the stunning Jax Beaches along the Atlantic Ocean to its lush parks and green spaces that give the city a calm, welcoming vibe, Jacksonville offers a mix of urban excitement and natural beauty. You’ll find peaceful rural areas with farms and horses, as well as thriving commercial districts filled with entertainment, dining, and shopping. With so many distinct neighborhoods, there’s always something new to discover around every corner.

Culture

Jacksonville offers a fresh perspective on American culture. The city is home to several major military bases, including the historic Mayport Naval Station, a key U.S. Navy port since 1940. The city also hosts an incredible Blue Angels air show every 4th of July. Jacksonville is also a hub for education, with institutions like the University of North Florida and the renowned Mayo Clinic, a major landmark for those in the medical field.

Entertainment

Though Jacksonville is known for its size, its cultural and entertainment scene is thriving. If you’re into sports, TIAA Bank Field—home to the Jacksonville Jaguars—is a must-visit. The VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena hosts top artists, comedy legends like Kevin Hart, and major events throughout the year. And just a short drive away, St. Augustine offers even more entertainment options, from concerts to historical festivals.

Architecture

One of the city’s most striking features? The bridges! Jacksonville has seven breathtaking bridges, and I can’t get enough of them. Every time I cross one, I feel this rush of excitement. I’ve filmed them countless times, yet they never lose their magic. It’s one of those small things that make this city so special.

Foodie Adventures

And then there’s the food scene—seriously underrated! Jacksonville is full of incredible, diverse dining options, but many of the best spots are hidden gems. They’re not heavily advertised, so the best way to find them is through word-of-mouth, Google reviews, or now—thanks to E Weekly News!

I hope this quick peek into Jacksonville has sparked your curiosity.

Stay tuned for more in-depth insights in future posts!
