The toughest role of Nicolas Cage's career: Himself

Watching Nicolas Cage play himself, alongside Pedro Pascal, was pure enjoyment for me. A Cage frustrated with his career and full of doubts decides to accept a billionaire's offer, and from there comes a mix of humor I loved: Mild dark humor, wholesome humor between friends, absurd humor, and nods to his own movies.

The Story

Nicolas Cage is thinking about retiring. A wealthy superfan, Javi Gutierrez (Pedro Pascal), offers him a million dollars to attend his birthday party in Mallorca, Spain. What seemed like an easy job gets complicated when two CIA agents ask for his help, and Cage ends up living an adventure worthy of his own movies.

A Friendship That Steals the Show

The chemistry between Nicolas Cage and Pedro Pascal is the heart of the story: what begins as an awkward obligation turns into a friendship as funny as it is endearing.

Behind the Scenes

Although the story takes place in Mallorca, it was filmed in Croatia, in and around Dubrovnik, with Villa Sheherezade standing in as Javi's mansion. Nicolas Cage turned down the role three or four times. He was won over by a letter from the director, which showed him the movie wasn't mocking him, but celebrating his work in films like Leaving Las Vegas and Face/Off.
