If you're dreaming of your next trip to Europe, this list is the perfect place to start. The World Travel Awards, known as the "Oscars of tourism," announced the winners for Europe 2026 on October 17, at a gala held on the Bay of Kotor, in Montenegro.
Portugal, the Big Winner
Portugal was named Europe's leading destination, and Lisbon took home two awards: best city and best cruise destination. The Algarve, with its golden cliffs and crystal-clear waters, was recognized as the continent's best beach. And in Lisbon, the 1908 Lisboa Hotel won for its interior design, one more reason to discover the Portuguese capital.
